What Should Be in an Effective Team Building Event?

We think being a team is an easy task, but is it really?

-Making sure you're running towards the same goal

-Getting to know each other and knowing their limits

-Feeling safe in a conflict environment

-Having a team agreement

and many more things :)


I wanted to share with you a full-day facilitation that I designed before. If you try it, I would definitely like to hear your feedback about what worked/didn't work ^_^


You can remove and add the content here according to your needs, but in general terms, the essentials for a team building activity are as follows for me:

  1. Get the deal of the day

  2. An icebreaker or bonding activity that will allow the team to get to know each other better and can be used in the content in the next steps

  3. Sharing the team goal and vision

  4. Determining a team name to give the team an identity

  5. Clarifying mutual expectations and making a team agreement

  6. Determining the team calendar

  7. And always get feedback at the end of the event, ultimately supporting the continuous improvement of our business :)

Apart from these, every activity will add color. For example;

  1. Determining success metrics after vision and goals

  2. Clarifying quality criteria

  3. Creating a logo next to the team name

  4. As the time gets longer, a few cohesive activities to be sprinkled in between to make the transitions meaningful :)

I am sharing a sample activity I prepared below to serve as an example for you. If there is demand, I can also buy a PBI to prepare the Turkish version :) but for now we can look at it as MVP. If you have questions, you can contact me in the comments :)
